The Royal Danish Playhouse

Foyer of the Playhouse

The foyer is always open to the public, so if you don't have a ticket to a performance, you can still come in and see the building and feel the atmosphere.

The foyer is also used for various free events, e.g. jazz music, political debates or storytelling for children.

Young ticket

If you are under 25 years of age, you can buy youth tickets with a 40% discount for all performances in The Royal Danish Playhouse. So if you are young yourself , or have your children with you on the trip, you can save money on the tickets.

The stages in The Royal Danish Playhouse

How many seats are there in The Royal Danish Playhouse? The theater's three stages together have room for 1,000 spectators. Find out more about the different stages below.

Main stage

There is room for 650 spectators on the Main Stage. The seats are in 4 levels, and therefore all spectators have a good view of the stage. The Main Stage is used for the big performances or music such as jazz.

Studio stage

Studio Stage has room for 110 people. Studio Stage is used for the slightly smaller performances, especially those for children.

Mellemgulvet

Mellemgulvet (in english: The middle floor) is the building's medium-sized stage. Up to 220 spectators can sit here.

Guided tours

It is possible to go on a guided tour in The Royal Danish Playhouse, where you get behind the scenes. Here you will have a special insight into the impressive set up that makes it possible to create large theater productions.

The tours are held in Danish for most of the year, but in July and August the tours are also held in English.
